EVENTS AT DELHEIM
It’s showtime as live jazz and delicious fondue return to Delheim
Book now to ensure a seat at this popular winelands event
Every Sunday from June 23 to August 25
There’s nothing like a little jazz to warm the cockles of your heart. So, get your fix this winter at Delheim wine estate’s popular Jazz & Fondue that runs from June 23 to August 25.
If you’re a jazz nut, this is an event for you. The event again takes place in Delheim’s cosy, downstairs wine tasting cellar – an intimate and snug venue that’s as perfect as any mellow jazz club.
The bonus at the intimate lunchtime concerts is a symphony of cheese and wine from the celebrated Stellenbosch winery served alongside a musical programme of the Cape Town Music Academy NPC and Jazz in the Native Yards.
On the meal-side of the occasion, tickets give you access to a sizzling pot of melted Swiss cheese, along with bread and vegetables for dipping. Optional extras available to order include starters, meats, dessert and coffee, along with wines that will also be on sale by the glass or bottle.
This is a special opportunity to taste Delheim’s Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 – a wine that is not only exclusively available from the estate, but which is also a perfect match when paired with cheese. All wrapped up, the occasion promises a splendid afternoon best enjoyed with a group of friends.
“The Cape Town Music Academy is proud to once again partner with Delheim and Jazz in the Native Yards to bring an exciting line up of some of the freshest and most talented jazz artists to the winelands,” says Cape Town Music Academy programme manager Vicky Davis. “The Jazz & Fondue series is a wonderful initiative that not only gives our jazz musicians a platform to perform but also exposes local and international guests to recognise and enjoy the great local music talent that South Africa has to offer.”
Jazz in the Native Yards is a traveling live jazz gig that promotes jazz performance and listenership across the Western Cape including townships, cultural centres and festivals.
The fat sounds of jazz giants like Winston Mankunku Ngozi, Robbie Jansen and Chris McGregor will be relived through a spectrum of jazz musicians. In the mix will be some “pata pata” from Sima Mashazi who with Schalk Joubert wowed the crowds at the most recent Woordfees festival in Stellenbosch.
Also in the line-up is Thembelihle Dunjana, a young Jazz pianist hailing from Gugulethu who started playing the piano at the age of 11. Her passion for jazz grew during her high school years at Bergvliet High and she ultimately ended up at the UCT College of Music where she graduated with a B. Music degree.
Thembelihle has found that the sounds of Mccoy Tyner, John Coltrane and Bheki Mseleku resonate with her, and is strongly influenced by the sounds of these legends and her band has an easily recognisable swing feel, and a strong African influence.

NEXT HARVEST FESTIVAL – JANUARY 2020
Delheim’s 2019 Harvest Festival celebrates the rosé side of life – CLOSED
It’s time to get your PINK on! This happy colour is the theme for Delheim’s 2019 Harvest Festival hosted by this renowned Stellenbosch wine stalwart on Saturday, 26 January to celebrate the bounty of the vineyard.
At the beginning of every year, the Cape Winelands become a hive of activity as harvest gets underway and Delheim is traditionally one of the very first Stellenbosch wine estates to ring in the new vintage in high spirits. This year’s pink-theme celebrates the harvest of Delheim’s world-renowned Pinotage Rosé – a wine that has built a loyal following since its launch in 1976 as the first in South Africa.
Tickets for the 2019 Delheim Harvest Festival is limited to only 120 adults and 30 children who make timeous reservations and the event again promises a fun-filled day in the country, at a winery known for its generous hospitality. Weather permitting, the hub of activities will happen at Delheim’s tranquil picnic area along the shady banks of the Klip River that flows through the farm.
The day starts fresh amidst the vineyards with grape picking and exhilarating stomping action and then eases into a laidback, family-friendly harvest feast brimming with delights. Think farm fresh salads, dolmades, baked breads, cheese & preserves, pickles, a variety of meats and fruit. Cheese straws, olives, grapes and bread on tables will provide nibbles throughout.
Dessert will be a highlight, with fynbos cupcakes and Pinotage ice-cream. Wines will be on offer through Delheim’s complimentary wine bar, of course, and there will be juice for the kiddies.
There will also be vineyard tours and tractor rides, while live music entertainment will set just the right mood for a memorable day out with family and friends. Rewards await the best-dressed enthusiast; the fastest grape pickers in the eponymous vineyard competition; and, the most juice stomped.
